Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office and municipal police in Alexandria, Pineville, Ball, Boyce, Cheneyville, Forest Hill, Glenmora, Lecompte, McNary, and Woodworth can create arrest records; Louisiana State Police and campus agencies may also be involved. Official RADE materials show that investigations can be multiagency, so the agency that booked a person may not hold the full incident narrative.

An arrest history is assembled from events rather than stored as one unrestricted public name search. The arresting agency holds its report, RPSO holds the booking and custody entry, the Clerk holds any filed prosecution, and BCII-LCJIS maintains the fingerprint-linked Louisiana Computerized Criminal History record. Louisiana does not offer the public an unrestricted LACCH people search.

The RPSO Alphabetic Jail Roster

The official Rapides Parish jail roster is organized alphabetically and is the fastest published channel for a present-custody question. A listing can include the person's name, age, gender, race, arresting agency, arrest date, booking date, facility, charge text, bond detail, a booking image or image link, and a VINE notification link. Search carefully because similar names require corroborating identifiers.

RPSO states that the roster is provided for public safety, is not an official public document, and is subject to restrictions on unauthorized copying or publication. It should be used as a lead, not republished as a gallery. Confirm a legal or safety-critical result with the detention facility or originating office.

Looking Up Rapides Parish Arrests

A complete lookup follows the record's path. Begin with current custody, then move backward to the incident report or forward to the filed court outcome. When online channels are empty, direct telephone, counter, mail, and written public-record request routes remain available.

1. Search the RPSO roster for current custody; if a result appears, record the booking date, arresting agency, facility, and charge wording without treating the charge as guilt.

3. Search the Rapides Parish Clerk's Ninth JDC file or the appropriate city court to learn whether charges were filed and how every count ended.

5. When no posted record answers the question, send a specific Louisiana Public Records Law request to the actual custodian, naming the date, location, report or booking number, and preferred format.

APD and Pineville Keep Their Reports

An Alexandria arrest report remains with Alexandria Police Department even when the person enters parish custody on Murray Street. APD is at 1000 Bolton Avenue; Records is 318-441-6412, Detectives 318-441-6416, Juvenile 318-441-6460, and Warrants 318-441-6468. Pineville Records Bureau, 910 Main Street, Pineville, Louisiana 71360, accepts in-person and mail channels and is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It maintains arrest, incident, and crash reports. An individual may obtain a summary of their own Pineville criminal record in person with valid identification for $20. Incident and crash reports cost $10 and are generally ready in three to five business days. A mail request identifies the date, complainant or victim, location, and return address and includes a $10 money order; personal checks are not accepted.

Inside a Rapides Parish Arrest Record

Booking establishes identity and custody. It can record fingerprints, photograph, property inventory, alleged charges, and custody location. Roster fields are useful for matching an event, but the incident report may contain the probable-cause narrative and the court file controls the prosecution's filed charges and disposition.

Why a Booking Charge Can Change

An officer first documents probable cause in a report or citation. Booking then establishes identity, takes fingerprints and a photograph, inventories property, records alleged charges, and assigns custody. The fingerprints may create or match an arrest cycle in LACCH. A bond or release decision can occur before a prosecutor files anything, so release is not the same as dismissal.

The Rapides Parish District Attorney may file, amend, or decline charges. The Clerk's file begins when court papers are filed, and a Bill of Information can differ from the booking allegations. The court resolves each filed count, and that disposition should be reported to BCII. A mismatch among the roster, court file, and LACCH can therefore reflect timing or an incomplete disposition rather than three versions of the same document.

Booking Logs and Recent Arrests

The alphabetic RPSO roster is a current-custody tool, not a permanent chronology of every Rapides Parish arrest. A person can disappear after release or transfer while the arresting agency's report, a later prosecution, and the LACCH cycle continue to exist. Conversely, a recent arrest may not yet have produced a filed court case.

Right to Review Your Louisiana Record

For an identity-based view of your own Louisiana history, use the LSP Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information's LAPS Right to Review fingerprint route. Louisiana law restricts dissemination under R.S. 15:587, while R.S. 15:588 provides the review authority.

The statute image reinforces that self-review is an official fingerprint-based process, not a public name lookup. LSP reports a $5 technology fee added to background-check requests effective December 1, 2024; the total depends on the authorized purpose and transaction.

Custody Alerts Through LA VINE

For sentenced Louisiana DPS&C custody and community supervision, LA VINE supplies a separate statewide channel. Its web search accepts location, name, and ID or case number and is described as updating every 24 hours. The telephone Imprisoned Person Locator at 225-383-4580 requires either a DPS&C number or a name and date of birth, then may provide a housing assignment, facility contact, and projected release date when applicable. VINE notification can help track custody changes, but its update cycle is not a substitute for a direct facility confirmation.

For a written sheriff-record request, identify an existing item rather than asking the custodian to conduct open-ended research. Useful details include an incident or offense-report number, arrest date, location, booking number, arresting agency, and limited date range. State whether inspection or copies are requested and give a delivery preference. Under Louisiana Public Records Law, reasonable specificity and lawful reproduction charges may apply, while protected investigative portions can be withheld under R.S. 44:3. An exemption for one portion does not automatically answer whether segregable booking facts or a final disposition remain available elsewhere.

Federal Identity History Is Separate

A Louisiana Right to Review does not contain arrests or convictions from other states. A person seeking their own federal identity-history summary can use the FBI's electronic request portal, which is separate from RPSO, the Rapides Clerk, and LACCH.

The FBI portal image marks a different record layer: it does not replace the local incident report or certified Rapides court disposition needed to understand a specific parish event.

Arrests Are Not Convictions

Each source proves something different. A booking proves that intake occurred under stated allegations. A conviction requires a court finding or accepted plea recorded in the case file. Review the disposition for each filed count because a booking can be followed by no filing, amendment, dismissal, acquittal, diversion, or conviction.

Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt, and a roster charge should never be reported as a conviction without checking the final court record.

When records disagree, preserve the booking and docket identifiers, obtain the Clerk's certified outcome, and use LSP's challenge route if the identity-based state record still lacks the corrected Rapides disposition.
